Clutch with MakerBot Button

This little clutch is a great way to carry your cell phone and wallet while out on the town, or organize small things in a backpack.

I started this project by following the  Perfect Purse pattern on Lion Brand’s website. However, once I was deeply into the project, I decided that the pattern on their website made a clutch that was just too big (more purse-like).

Since I was working on this project for a gift exchange (re: there was a hard deadline), I decided to skip the lacy flap, and instead make this interesting by using a cool button.  Since my boyfriend works for MakerBot Industries (a company that makes affordable 3D printers) the phrase “can you print me a yellow button?” really isn’t too unusual. 5 minutes later, I had a yellow button and was able to finish my project. I chose to use the LEGO button from Thingiverse, and decided to thread the yarn through the LEGO pegs instead of making small holes in the center (for both aesthetic and time reasons).
